🌊 What If the Planet Could Speak Back?🔉
What if I answered
every time you talked at me—
not with thunder for drama,
not with fire for effect,
but with rhythm,
with memory,
with facts you forgot to collect?
What if my reply wasn’t sudden,
wasn’t loud,
wasn’t mean—
just honest and old
and already happening?
I would tell you
I am not quiet.
I am paced.
I speak in tides that rehearse the shore,
in plates that slide like a closing door,
in heat that builds, then asks for more,
in storms you label “once-before.”
I would rhyme in rust and root and bone,
in cities sinking millimeter-grown,
in satellites that watch me groan
and call it data, not a tone.
You say, Why now? Why here? Why us?
As if timing was random.
As if pressure forgot its job.
As if cause and effect ever needed applause.
I would tell you
I don’t argue.
I demonstrate.
I warned you slow.
I warned you straight.
Through melting clocks you call ice caps late.
Through seasons bent out of regulation,
through oceans swallowing punctuation.
You asked for signs.
I gave you trends.
You asked for proof.
I moved your friends.
You asked for mercy.
I gave you time—
you spent it racing the finish line.
If I could speak back,
I’d say this clean:
I am not broken.
I am balancing.
I don’t erase.
I recycle.
I don’t end stories.
I retitle.
Civilizations rise like rhymes that peak,
get repeated, rushed, then start to leak.
I’ve heard this verse before you speak—
every age thinks it’s unique.
So what if I answered,
not with rage,
not with blame,
but with truth that stays the same?
I would say:
I don’t need you to fear me.
I need you to hear me.
I’ve been speaking the whole time.
