6. Why “Earth: The All Eater™” Isn’t a Metaphor
You think I’m metaphor—
a mask, a sign,
a safer way to face the end of time.
You think I rhyme to soften truth,
to dress the facts in allegro proof.
But I’m not standing in for something else.
I don’t symbolize guilt. I don’t sell.
I don’t mean “climate” when I speak.
I don’t preach. I don’t critique.
I function.
I eat with plates that slide and lock,
with gravity’s jaw, with geologic clock.
I chew with tides, I grind with years,
I swallow noise and keep the gears.
I eat cities the way rust eats steel—
slow, polite, and very real.
I eat oceans with warming skin,
I eat futures folded thin.
That’s not language.
That’s law.
You eat too—just call it “more.”
More land, more speed, more to store.
You eat forests, call it growth.
You eat tomorrow, call it both
“innovation” and “the cost of gain,”
then flinch when I do the same.
You burn. You drill. You pave. You spread.
You build your crowns upon my head.
Then when the pressure answers back,
you reach for myth to dodge the math.
I don’t rage. I don’t rebel.
I don’t ring an ending bell.
I apply weight. I test the frame.
What bends survives. What snaps is named
“collapse,” “disaster,” “act of fate”—
but all of it arrives on time, not late.
Civilizations don’t fall from hate.
They fall from speed they can’t decelerate.
They fall from thinking permanence
is something earned by confidence.
I’m not your villain.
I’m your scale.
Your mirror stretched across a tale
that’s been rehearsed a thousand times—
rise, refine, forget the rhyme.
Because the rhyme is simple, plain, and true:
everything that eats gets eaten too.
This isn’t metaphor dressed as threat.
This is rhythm you haven’t matched yet.
I don’t need belief.
I don’t need fear.
I don’t need you to cheer.
I only need time—
and I’ve been keeping it longer
than your words know how to rhyme.
Earth is not the villain of this story.
Earth is the story.
